What does flexible (electrical) installation mean? How do “plug and play” installations work?
A flexible (electrical) installation – often called “plug and play” specifies the assembly of cables, luminaires and appliances with plug and socket connectors and distributors of a system.
What advantages do flexible (electrical) installations have?
The most important advantages over conventional installations with terminal blocks, distribution boxes and cables are:
- saving up to 50% of time
- installation both by skilled electricians or by electrically instructed persons
- easy replacement of defective parts
- considerably reduced fault rates during installation

What standards have to be complied with?
The relevant standard for electrical installations is the EN 61535 “Installation couplers intended for permanent connection in fixed installations”.
How to connect DALI control systems?
DALI (short for Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) is a manufacturer-independent standard for lighting control in buildings – particularly in offices, shops, restaurants or hotels. Plug and socket connectors for the installation of DALI controls are provided with a special mechanical coding and blue colour in order to distinguish them from the standard and to prevent incorrect plugging by mistake.
